Our History

Faith Baptist Church was born through the vision and effort of 18 couples in the First Baptist Church of Gallipolis.  The first public service was held on September 13, 1970 in rented space under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Chapman.  The congregation voted to purchase a six acre site on what was then U.S. Route 35, now Jackson Pike, west of Rodney, Ohio.  The members worked tirelessly on their new building, and exactly three months after their first public meeting, the congregation met in the completed 3200 square foot structure.  The facility was dedicated to the Lord on January 3, 1971.  As the membership grew, an additional 5000 square foot educational wing was occupied in March of 1972.  Under the leadership of Pastor O.C. Morrison a new church parsonage was built and then an additional 12,000 square foot expansion was completed in April of 1976.  Pastor Jim Lusher began serving here in 1985 and under his leadership the mortgage indebtedness was retired and then in 2004 a new 13,500 square foot Family Ministry Center was completed.  The church is currently undergoing another renovation and expansion project.  God has blessed us with wonderful people and exceptional facilities.  Praise His Name!
